Michael Mills grew up in New Bern, N.C. and received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1990 Michael Mills graduated from Wake Forest School of Law and began practicing law in New Bern, North Carolina that same year. From 1993 through 2016 Michael Mills practiced law with Josh Willey at the law firm of Mills & Willey. On January 1, 2017 Josh Willey was sworn in as a Superior Court judge, and Mills began practicing as a solo practitioner.
Michael Mills is married to his wife, Marcy, and they are the parents of two boys who attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
